Japanese Glass Floats

While in Alaska a few months ago, I came across a stand selling colored glass balls, some with twine, some without. Apparently, the Japanese started using them as fishing buoys in the early 1900s and they continue to wash up on shore. Don't you think they are fabulous? I especially love the frosted ones where the lines still show from where the netting was. Can you imagine all the awesome things you could do with these!? And they're just so cool. You can get 'reproduction' ones, but the best places to find authentic ones (really, why would you want reproductions'''?) are local scavengers, mainly on the west coast.
